Flannels and Booties

Wednesday, November 11, 2015

Welcome back, Sparkles! I hope everyone is having a great week!

Note for fall: flannels and booties. I am not much of a "fall" person. I'm all about warm weather and long days. The less I have to wear, the better! Being in frigid weather is the real struggle, for real! I hate feeling "stuffed" with layers upon layers. I thought this flannel and LuLu's suede booties were the perfect transitional outfit for summer to fall. I bought both of these this summer online and I'm so thankful I did. I love the variety of ways I can wear flannels: buttoned, opened, tied around the waist, or underneath a vest. It's just so practical!

P.S.- I literally wear these booties more than any shoe should be worn, honestly.

Sunday Lunchday // Avalanche Game

Tuesday, February 3, 2015

I love you, weekend. You are such a tease, I could learn a lot from you. As usual, we had another busy weekend it. I can't imagine what life will be like when we have kid(s) compared to now. I barely have one breathing moment in between activities, and I wouldn't trade it in for anything else right now.

Wendell and I got to experience our first Avalanche game Friday night (the hockey team, in case some of you don't know). We went with my best friend Jules and her fiance Brian. It's always a good time with them, we are the silliest and craziest duo to walk the streets of Denver. Nothing gets by us and I love our friendship.

Y'all hockey games are so dang entertaining. The fans are hilarious and the players are aggressive, its just so fun to go to. I didn't understand a single thing, but it was fun to watch.

I was exhausted.

Have I mentioned how much I love sushi? It's one of my favorite meals, and thankfully my dear friend Alicia feels the same way. We had a sushi date on Saturday, and...It. Was. Dee.Vine.

Hubster and I have a weekend problem: We can't stay away from the sonic slush. There's no greater weekend night than driving the 1 mile to sonic and getting 1 Route 44 for him, and a medium for me. We've been doing it since we were 15, but when we lived in MS we had to drive 12 miles. Yep, we are originally good ole country folks.

Our Sunday Lunchday was a snowy adventure. It snowed all of Saturday night, out of no where, what the heck?

sassafras
We ate at a restaurant in Capitol Hill called Sassafras American Eatery. It was so delicious and everyone was super duper friendly, which makes the experiment way better. We arrived at 1:30 and they closed at 2:00 that day because of the Super Bowl.  We only had to wait for 10 minutes or so and they have a whole room just for waiting upstairs.

I got biscuit and gravy as an app because it looked delicious and I had a 50% coupon from Yelp, booyah.

It is an eccentric place with a home-y vibe. Our food was great, they are know for their buffalo hash, which is what Wendell got. He really enjoyed it, it's just one of those petite dishes.

I also got the shrimp po boy with sweet potato chips...mhhmmmm as Phaedra Parks says.

I would definitely go back here again. I mean the staff was so friendly and the food was great, win win.

So it's all over, another 5 days before we start the fun again. Hope yours was as enjoyable as mine.

Sunday Lunchday // Winter Park

Monday, January 26, 2015

Holy smokes, the weekend is over people! How was your Monday? Mine was so busy that I barely had time to reminisce over my fun filled weekend, but I plan to do that with you guys now!

I took Friday off from work because 1. My body was angry at me for never taking time off. And 2. My poor doggy needed a caring for asap. He has a luxating patella (insert weeping mom here). If you are not familiar with that, it is where the knee cap pops in and out in little dogs. He's had it for a while; but Monday when I came home from work he was only walking on 3 legs. I had a 3 legged dog, it freaked me out.

Isn't he adorable?

Ok, vets are expensive. I walked out of there paying my car note (insert weeping mom here). I payed for medicine (helpful) and a diagnostic. Leland has to have surgery on his knee. This was shocking and pretty much set the tone for the rest of the day. He's been fine since Friday- no limping..

I love this baby boy so much, he has been with me since 2008 and I would do anything to keep him around. I'll save this sob story for another post.

On Saturday..drum roll please... we went tubing in Winter Park {not water tubing, snow tubing}! This is huge for me, I am not an outdoors person. I love to be inside snuggled up on my couch watching the episodes of the Kardashians and Real Housewives. But we had a blast!

If you have never been to Colorado, you are really missing out on all of God's greatness. It is absolutely beautiful here, some moments just take my breath away.

I had a great time with my hubs and dear friends tubing. I am such a scaredy cat y'all, like really, I am! I don't do amusement parks, water parks, skiing, none of that stuff is fun for me! I'm not adventurous at all, it's kinda sad. Tubing is way fun, though, that might be one of my new things.

We were so lazy Sunday that we chose to eat at our favorite Chinese restaurant by our house, The Honeybee. They have the BEST Honey Walnut Shrimp there, yuuuuum. And if you didn't know, I'm the biggest boba junkie you ever did see.

We love our cell phones.

What a nice, long weekend we had. Can't wait to see what this one has in store. Until next time...
